Background and Contact Details
The CollecTin More is a collaboration between four organisations:

Prerequisites
A. Charge the device:
- Take the CollecTin More out of its box
- Grab the 3m cable and insert the larger end into the handle (with the print towards the back of the device)
- Connect the other end of the cable into the plug
- Make sure the device is off
- Plug the charger into a standard socket and let it charge until full (if you quickly tap the power button on the side you will see the charge percentage) or for at least 3 hours
- Unbox the WisePad 3 reader and charge it using its own cable and the CollecTin plug, after the main unit has finished charging
- [IF you use a booster battery] Charge the battery separately with the provided cable; once both the CollecTin More and the battery are fully charged you can insert the battery into the handle
B. Set up your Give A Little and Stripe accounts
You will use your Give A Little account to log-in to the Give A Little website (https://givealittle.co/login - where you can create/manage campaigns and access fundraising reports) and the Give A Little app on the CollecTin More.
To set-up your Give A Little account:
- Go to https://givealittle.co/sign-up/create-account?via=su and follow the steps
- You will be asked to upload some proof of your charitable status for your Give A Little account to be verified (unless you are a group member)
- Important: At the 2nd step, “Open a new Stripe account using Give A Little”, you have two options:
- Option 1: Give A Little Stripe - New Express account
Stripe offers payment processing for both App and Web, and via Give A Little it provides a market-leading low transaction fee of 1.58% - Option 2: Stripe - New Standard account
If you would prefer to have complete control over your Stripe account and negotiate your own fees you can create a new Standard Stripe account. If you have an existing Stripe account, when you create a new account via Give A Little you can use the same email address as your existing account, which will link the two accounts and streamline onboarding. You cannot link an existing Stripe account with Give A Little.

Quickstart Steps
1. Start and unlock the device
- Once the unit has charged, press and hold the power button on the right hand side until the CollecTin logo appears on screen
- Wait until you see a white screen displaying “Unable to connect to internet”
- Look for your device’s S/N under the base of the unit and write down the last 6 digits (this will be your unlock code):
S/N unlock code: ______________
- Press and hold the power button again, then tap the padlock button that appears on screen
- Enter the last 6 digits of your device’s S/N, located under the base of the unit (you can note this down somewhere else too) and tap “CONFIRM”
- You should now see the home screen
2. Connect to the internet
- Tap the settings cogwheel icon on the home screen
- Choose ‘Network and internet’, then ‘Internet’
- Turn on Wi-Fi (the switch on the right should be teal)
- Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password for it, if any
- Make sure it says ‘Connected’ under the network then press the circle at the bottom of the screen to return to the homepage
- [IF you’d like to use the CollecTin More in areas without WiFi coverage] Activate the SIM card by signing-up using the webform on https://daisycomms.co.uk/collectin/ OR emailing Daisy Communications at collectin@daisycomms.co.uk. You can find the SIM serial number on the SIM card carrier (located under the base of the unit) to purchase a data plan. They offer 500mb per month for £42+VAT per year and it takes about a week to set up a new account
3. Log in to the Give A Little app
- Tap on the Give A Little app icon on the home screen
- [IF a message about an update for the Give A Little app appears] Choose ‘Skip for now’
- The app should relaunch when the process is complete (tap on its icon to open it again if it doesn’t)
- Choose ‘stripe card reader’
- Enter your Give A Little login email address, make sure that is correct, then tap the teal right arrow on the bottom right of the keyboard to enter the password and tap on the teal checkmark to confirm
- While the app scans for readers, make sure the card reader is turned on by pressing its power button (located at the top right of the keypad)
- Tap on the ‘Connect via Bluetooth’ button that appears at the bottom of the screen after the scan
- [IF more than one reader is found]:
- Check the back of your WisePad 3 (or the bottom of its box) for the ’S/N’ code, and note the last four digits
- Scroll through by swiping left and right until the reader serial number in the middle of the screen matches that of the correct unit
- Tap ‘Connect’
- Check the “Also allow access to your contacts and call history” box and then tap ‘PAIR’ on the same pop-up menu
- [IF the ‘Updating reader’ menu appears] Wait for the update to install (it might take up to 20 minutes in some cases)
- [IF the reader keeps displaying “Disconnected” while trying to connect OR every donation is getting cancelled]Do the following:
- Make sure more than half of the battery icon on the reader display appears full otherwise leave it charging for longer
- Close and reopen the app like so:
- Unlock the tablet like in Step 1 and tap the square at the bottom of the screen
- Swipe up on the Give A Little app to close it and then tap on the circle at the bottom
- Tap on the Give A Little app to reopen it and it should reconnect automatically
- You should now be taken to a screen with the Give A Little logo on a white background
- Swipe in from the left of the screen to open the menu
- Tap on ‘Check for updates’, then ‘Update’
- Wait for the update to download then press ‘UPDATE’ on the prompt
- The app should restart after the update (tap its icon if it doesn’t)
4. Set up your first campaign
We recommend you set up your app campaigns on the Give A Little website (for guides and templates go to https://collectin.com/pages/support , tap on 'Search our Knowledge Base’, then enter ‘Design Templates’ into the search bar):
- Go to https://givealittle.co/login and log-in with either your Give A Little or SumUp account details
- Click on ‘Campaigns’ from the first row of options, then the blue ‘Add new campaign’ at the top right corner
- Pick a campaign layout type, then select ‘App’
- Enter the info requested at each step until your campaign is complete
- If you prefer to use an image or video for the background, then it’s best to format this to 1024 pixels high x 600 pixels wide as it could cause the Give A Little app to crash otherwise.
- Click on ‘Devices’ from the first row, then select your device
- Click on ‘Change campaign’ then pick your campaign from the list
Alternatively, here’s how you can do this on the CollecTin More:
- Swipe in from the left of the screen to open the menu
- Choose ‘Campaigns’ and tap the ‘ADD’ button
- Pick a layout template
- Enter the info requested in each step until your campaign is complete
- Choose your campaign from the list
- Select the blue ‘USE’ button
5. Make a test donation and install the reader
- Choose an amount you wish to donate
- [IF you are taken back to the campaign page instead] Just tap the desired amount again and follow the instructions on screen
- You can either tap a card on the top of the reader to complete the transaction or lift the lid and press the red ‘X’ button at the bottom left side of the card reader to cancel the transaction
- A successful donation will take you to the thank you screen, then back to the donation options
- CAREFULLY insert the card reader into the top of the CollecTin More, following the instructions on the sticker. Be mindful of the USB connector on the side and always make sure that it is not touching the reader during installation; otherwise it might get damaged. 6. Auto-lock feature
Every time you enter Give A Little or restart the device, the software locks access to the tablet’s settings and power off/restart menu, preventing anyone from leaving the Give A Little app or turning the screen off.
In order to regain access, you’ll need to unlock the tablet again like you did in Step 1.
7. Lock the Give A Little menu (optional)
As an extra security feature, you can make the Give A Little app menu inaccessible from the device’s screen. To lock the menu:
- Access the Give A Little menu and select ‘Lock Menu’ (alternatively, you can lock it on their website: https://givealittle.co)
- Confirm menu lock by tapping ‘Lock the menu’ (WARNING: this action can ONLY be undone on the givealittle.co website!)
- [IF you want to unlock the menu, for example to change a campaign]:
- Head to givealittle.co and log in with your Give A Little details
- Navigate to ‘Devices’ and you can manage your units from there, identify them, deploy campaigns, force updates, and lock/unlock their menus
- NOTE: the CollecTin needs to be connected to the internet in order for this to work!
8. Auto Power On & Off feature (recommended)
Having time off is recommended for the longevity of the tablet’s display. By default, the tablet turns itself off at 01:00 am and back on at 06:45 am. You can modify these times to suit your schedule better by following the steps below:
- Unlock the tablet and tap the settings (cogwheel) icon on the home screen
- Choose ‘Schedule power on & off’
- From here you can:
- toggle the existing times on/off
- tap on them to edit the time and frequency to suit your preferences
- add multiple wakeup and sleep times by tapping on ‘ADD SCHEDULED TASKS’ button at the top right of the screen
- tap on the rubbish bin icon to delete a specific time altogether
- When finished, tap the triangle at the bottom left of the screen to go back to the settings menu or the circle at the bottom middle of the screen to get back to the home screen (where you can start Give A Little again)

Issue | Solution |
My CollecTin More with Stripe is in OFFLINE mode (yellow dot in the top left corner of the campaign) | The CollecTin More with Stripe can take and store donations when there is no internet connection and process them when connection is reestablished. Please search our online Knowledge Base for ‘Offline Donations’ and read the ‘Offline Donations with Stripe and Give A Little’ to familiarise yourself with how this feature works before using it in the field. |
The CollecTin More won’t turn on. | Insert the static cable into the handle and leave to charge overnight. Ensure you are using the charger and cable supplied, as some mobile phone chargers are unable to provide sufficient power. Press and hold the power button for up to 20 seconds. |
The CollecTin More works on Wifi, but not on mobile data. | Have you activated the SIM with Daisy? If not please do so using the webform on https://daisycomms.co.uk/collectin/, quoting the serial number on the SIM card carrier, on the base of the unit. Please check in Settings>Network and Internet>Mobile network that ‘Roaming’ and ‘Mobile data’ are both turned on. For more details search for ‘SIM Settings A15 Daisy’ on our online Knowledge Base. |
A blue landscape menu has appeared on the screen. | Use the volume keys to highlight the last option (Reboot) and select it with the power button to restart the device. Alternatively, you can press and hold the power button (lower button on the right hand side) for 10 seconds to restart the CollecTin. |
I can’t log into the Give A Little app or donations are failing. | You may have insufficient WiFi or mobile signal. Try moving the unit, or buying a WiFi booster. |
The bluetooth connection between the CollecTin More and Stripe reader is lost | Swipe up from the bottom of the screen, press the square on the right and swipe the Give A Little app in the middle of the screen. Then close the Give A Little App by swiping up on it. Reopen the Give A Little App as usual. The reader should reconnect automatically; if not, choose ‘Connect reader’ from the Give A Little menu. |
Stuck on a screen with "Unable to connect to the internet. Please check your network connection" or "Network unavailable" | Please consult our Support Article on the Knowledge Base. Type ‘Unable to connect’ into the search bar. |
