Bluetooth Reset for SumUp Reader - SumUp not connecting to Give A Little

If you are experiencing issues with the bluetooth connectivity between the CollecTin More's android tablet and SumUp card reader, please follow these steps:

A. Updating the Give A Little App

Updating the app can be done from the menu in the Give A Little app

To access the Give A Little menu, swiping it in from the far left hand side of the screen.
Some older models require you to swipe down from the top left hand corner to show the 3 bars and pressing them.

If neither of these work, your menu has likely been locked, see video below to unlock this.


Towards the bottom of the Give A Little menu is Check for Update, which will take you through the update process (accept all prompts).

You can see, which version you are on by going to About on the Give A Little menu. The current version should be 2.7.1 or higher.

If your menu is locked, you will need to visit givealittle.co on your computer/mobile first and select your device to unlock the menu from there:



B. Bluetooth Reset on your SumUp Reader

1. Disconnect Power

To reset the bluetooth in your SumUp reader, you need to stop power coming into the unit. 

Check your power source:


a) 3m Static Cable (as photos below) - Simply unplug the USB cable from the charger plug


b) Booster battery (as photos below) - Remove the battery from the handle! (Use your thumbnail in the slot along the back of the handle, to push down on the top of it - it will then slide down and out).



2. Identify your SumUp reader


2.1 SumUp Solo Lite

To reset the Solo Lite you need to keep the power button on the right side of the card reader pressed for 8 seconds. 


On the large CollecTin More screen, go back into Give A Little, pull the menu out from the left > Connect Reader and follow the steps. If the reader still will not connect follow the easy steps in the tablet settings as indicated in the video below

2.2 SumUp Air

If you have your CollecTin More installed in a secure mount together with a booster battery and not able to remove it, carefully remove the reader from the cradle


To reset you then:
1. press the button on the right of the card reader for a couple of seconds until it is off
2. release the button,
3. press the button again for several tens of seconds...
4. in this time the screen will be black, and then say "hold for BT" or "hold for reset" followed by "release for BT" or "hold for reset"
5. when "release for BT" or "hold for reset" pops up it is time to let go of the button.
6 the SumUp should beep

You can now replace the SumUp/Power and on the GiveALittle app menu press "Connect Device" or "Connect Reader"


Transactions should proceed normally now.
