Give A Little App stopped working / stuck / not running updates

Give A Little DIY Support Guide


If your Give A Little App is not performing as it should, please follow the below steps:


A. Updating the Give A Little App


Step 1 - Close the Give A Little App
> Slightly pull the bottom of your screen upwards to reveal the three android control icons (triangle, circle, square) at the bottom of your screen
> Tap the square on the bottom right
> Close all windows, especially the Give A Little app

Step 2 - Open Give A Little and Check for Updates
> Home Screen (CollecTin Logo)
> Tap Give A Little icon
> Open Give A Little menu
(If your menu is unlocked, you can access this. If you are unable to pull out the menu, this may have been locked - Video: Give A Little Menu Lock - How to lock and unlock my menu)
> Check for Update > Follow the update process, accept any download / install requests
> The current version, which you can check in About, should be 2.1.0 or higher.

Step 3 - Reset the Bluetooth of your SumUp Card Reader
Resetting the SumUp card reader requires power to be turned off - this can be achieved by either removing the battery from the handle (use your thumbnail in the slot along the back of the handle, to push down on the top of it - it will then slide down out of the handle). 
or removing the reader from the cradle


To reset you then:
1. press the button on the right of the card reader for a couple of seconds until it is off
2. release the button,
3. press the button again for several tens of seconds...
4. in this time the screen will be black, and then say "hold for BT" / "hold for reset" followed by "release for BT" / "hold for reset"
5. when "release for BT" / "hold for reset" pops up it is time to let go of the button.
6 the sumup should beep

You can now replace the SumUp/Power and on the GiveALittle app menu press "Connect Reader"

Transactions should proceed normally now.

B. Payment Processing Integration Dropped within Give A Little


When your Give A Little stops working and you have already updated your app, there is a chance that the integration between Give A Little and your SumUp / Stripe account has been interrupted. This can be due to the password on your account changing, or an issue with SumUp / Stripe's authentication service.

You can re-enable your SumUp / Stripe integration quite simply by going to https://givealittle.co/login and either:

  • Selecting 'Login with SumUp' and entering your SumUp account owner credentials, or
  • Logging in with your Give A Little credentials, going to 'Account', selecting 'Integrations', clicking on 
    • 'Connect with SumUp' and entering your SumUp account owner credentials. OR
    • 'Connect with Stripe' and entering your Stripe account owner credentials.

If this doesn't fix the issue please reinstall the Give A Little app.
