Introduction
Our CollecTin Solo and CollecTin More with SumUp both use SumUp as a payment platform.
Setting up your unit begins with registering a SumUp account as specified in the Quickstart Guide supplied with your CollecTin. You can find electronic Quickstart Guides here.
As SumUp is a financial institution, it has similar regulatory processes as setting up a bank account. After initial registration, all charitable SumUp accounts need to be verified and this process takes a week on average, longer during busy periods.
If you are not a registered charity or registered CIC, please contact SumUp's visitor chat to find out if you are eligible to use SumUp for fundraising.
The information in this article is for setting up your SumUp account for UK Charities and CICs.
Helpful tips
When setting up your SumUp account (and Give a Little for CollecTin More), we recommend using a generic organisation email address instead of a specific staff member's email address. This enables easier handover of account admin duties in the future.
It is helpful to read through the attached guide prior to starting, so that you have a chance to get all the required information and documentation together.
How to set up your SumUp account for UK Charities/CICs
There are guides attached below to help charities/CIC choose the appropriate categories in the first part of the SumUp account set-up process. As the SumUp sign up process is designed to cover all types of organisation, it can appear a bit confusing at first for charities.
