How to Register your SumUp Account / Setting up SumUp

The SumUp sign-up process can be a bit confusing as the language used is standardised and business focussed.

NOTE: We recommend you...

• Use a generic / organisational email rather than a personal one to sign up for the account, as it is complicated to change this email at a later stage.
• Under "Accounts for receiving sales payouts" (the same for donation income)
  • Choose "Use your own account" instead of the default "FREE SumUp Business Account"
  • You will then be prompted to enter your charity bank account details on the next screen.
• Profile Summary - Check all your details are correct, to avoid delay in the verification process, in particular:
  • Does your charity name match the name on the bank account?
  • Does the business address match the charity address on your bank statements/utility bill?
  • Is the business category and description correct?
  • Do the personal details match those on your passport/identification used?
• Under "Source of Wealth / Source of Funds (SOW/SOF)"
  • Select "Gifts or donations"
  • Then, under "Your purposes for using SumUp", choose the top two options
    • To sell in-store and take payments with SumUp card reader
    • To sell online and take online payments
• You do not need to download the app, just click "Finish Later" to go through to your account
• Verification: In order to start transacting, you will need to verify your identity once you have logged into your SumUp account. On the black banner at the top of your account click “Start verification”.
