Offline Donations with the CollecTin More with Stripe

When using the Stripe card reader, donations can be stored when there is no internet connection and processed when the connection is reestablished. Please carefully ready the information below carefully to understand this feature.

1. Internet required when logging into the Give A Little app - And what this means in terms of use.

Logging into the app requires the CollecTin More to be connected to the internet (WiFi / Mobile Hotspot / activated SIM). This means that you need an internet connection to access your donation page every time you start up the CollecTin More from OFF.

TIP: when preparing to go to a site without internet connection, start up your CollecTin More beforehand, log into your relevant campaign etc and get the unit ready. When you are ready to leave, tap the power button once to switch off the screen only and not shut down the unit. When on site, tap the power button once to switch on the screen and the CollecTin More will be ready to go.

In offline mode it is best to use the CollecTin More without using the Fully Single App Kiosk, which locks Give A Little onto the screen. This is because when you press one of the android controls, rather than navigating to the Home Screen, Fully will attempt to reload Give A Little but will fail at this (because internet connection is required).

IMPORTANT: If you navigate away from the Give A Little app while in offline mode, to get back to the donation screen DO NOT tap the Give A Little icon on the Home Page. This will cause the app to attempt to connect back with the server, which will not be possible because no internet is present. If you to this the screen will get stuck on a white "Unable to connect to internet" screen. Instead press the square android control icon on the bottom right (to reveal slightly pull up from the bottom), which will show you all open apps/windows on your tablet. Here navigate and tap your donation page on display in the Give A Little app. This takes you back to the donation page.

2. Taking Donations when offline and Bank requirement for Tap

When offline, donations will be stored in the reader and processed only once internet connection is reestablished. Pending donations can be seen in your Give A Little menu: (swipe in from the left) > Donations (navigate back to your donation page with the back arrow buttons).

When offline, tap works with all digital cards (eWallet / Google Pay on mobile devices) as usual. In contrast, tapping with a physical cards is not allowed by the banks in offline mode and will require donors to lift the lid of the CollecTin More and use chip and pin.

3. Gift Aid when offline

If a donor has previously made an enduring Gift Aid declaration (they opted in to Gift Aid all future donations) and the campaign has Gift Aid activated, then their existing declaration will be applied to the offline donation once it is processed.

When offline, there is no access to complete new Gift Aid declarations (internet is required to load the necessary pages within the app). We are awaiting feedback from Give A Little if this is something that can be made available offline.
