TABLE OF CONTENTS
1. CollecTin More
Give A Little can be used for fundraising by organisations that are collecting cashless donations for a charitable purpose.
As a guide, the following types of organisations are permitted to open a Fundraiser account with Give A Little:
- Regulated charities
- Exempt charities
- Community Interest Companies
- Community Amateur Sports Clubs
- Companies that are not-for-profit (where articles of association state directors have no recourse to company funds)
- Local government bodies (e.g. a council fundraising for a community event)
- Corporates (where financial controls are established for the charitable purpose e.g. a separate bank account)
- Associations (typically with constitution detailing the charitable purpose and use of finances solely for said purpose)
Where an organisation is not regulated, or exempt from regulation, but asserts to be using Give A Little for charitable purposes, we consider they are subjective and we may require additional information before we can verify the account. Every Fundraiser account undergoes rigorous vetting by Give A Little to be verified before an account can be used.
CollecTin More units come with a choice of two card readers - SumUp and Stripe payment platforms.
IMPORTANT: SumUp authenticate accounts individually and have recently updated their criteria as follows:
- Community Interest Companies (CICs) are able to be onboarded and do not require charity registration.
- All other organisation types require charity registration: This includes Community Amateur Sports Clubs, non-profit companies, local government bodies, corporates with charitable controls, and associations with charitable purposes. These must be registered with the Charity Commission or have excepted/exempted status.
- Case-by-case exceptions: If you have organisations that don't meet the above criteria but you believe should qualify, these can be submitted to onboarding@sumup.co.uk for individual review and potential exception.
If you DO NOT have registration, you can contact SumUp or choose to go with the Stripe payment platform.
